Nothing says comfort, relaxation, and deliciousness quite like a stack of pancakes. But if you’re ready to take your pancakes to the next level, check out these cooking tips on how to make pancakes- and not just any pancakes; the PERFECT pancakes!

How to make perfect pancakes

1. Measure Right and Beat it Light

This is probably one of the most common cooking tips, especially when it comes to how to make pancakes, but it is surely one to keep in mind no matter what you’re whipping up in the kitchen. Always measure out your ingredients perfectly. Don’t just throw the flour in the measuring cup and guess that it’s right. No, place the flour inside the measuring cup and even out with a butter knife to ensure you’re at the right mark. After the ingredients have been carefully measured, beat your batter- but don’t overbeat it so that it is thin and watery. The key to pancakes is fluffiness, so leave the batter a bit thick.  Try this Calibowl 4-pc. Mixing Bowl Set from Kohls to help you make the perfect pancake batter.

 2. Grease it Up

Greasing your griddle (or pan) is imperative when it comes to making pancakes. Do not forget to grease your griddle, whether you opt to use a cooking spray, tablespoon of butter, or other method of greasing. Making your pancakes without greasing first can surely ruin the entire batch.  This Presto Family Size Tilt 'N Drain Electric Griddle from Kohls is the perfect pancake-making griddle and will allow you to cook for the whole family.  3. Pouring Method

If you’re wondering how to make pancakes perfectly cooked into the perfect little circle, you need to pay close attention to how you’re pouring your batter. (Yes, believe it or not, pouring the batter is a lot more important than simply splotching a scoop onto your griddle). You’ll want to get a small measuring cup, ideally 1/4 of a cup. This Norpro Stainless Steel 5-pc. Measuring Cup Set is perfect for situations like these. (Only $18.99 and cheaper with Target coupons). Scoop your batter into the measuring cup so it is filled to the top. Now here’s the tricky part. You want to pour your scoop of batter very quickly. No dilly-dallying, as this will leave parts of the pancake uncooked or overcooked. Quickness is key. If you’re doing multiple pancakes at once, leave at least 2 inches between the pancakes. Ideally, the more space the better as you don’t want your pancakes to accidentally collide into some kind of mega-pancake.

 4. Cooking

Even more important than the pouring (of course) is the cooking. Pancakes have a tendency to cook quickly, so you really have to stay on your toes and watch your pancakes carefully. It is important not to touch your pancakes before they are ready, as this will surely break them apart. Wait until the edges of your pancake begins bubbling and appears dry. Carefully slide a spatula underneath your pancake and flip it over quickly. Don’t be afraid to just go for it. The longer it takes you to flip the pancake, the more likely it is to break. Of course, one of the biggest cooking tips you can get is to keep trying, so if your first pancake didn’t come out perfectly, just keep trying and eventually you will be a flipping master. Once flipped, let your pancakes cook for another minute or so, then remove them from your griddle or pan and place them on a plate. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
