7 Great Animated Movies to See in 2014

Let’s face it: there were a lot of great animated movies last year (Despicable Me 2, Epic, Frozen, anyone?). But what’s even better for animated movie fanatics is that this year presents us with a ton of awesome animated movies 2014! Expect plenty of animated movies coming out this year that will make you and the entire family laugh for ages. Check out the list of great animated movies you have to see in 2014!

 

 1.  The Nut Job (January 17)

The Nut Job was the first of animated movies 2014 that left us smiling and giggling. Let’s just say this hilarious film started out on the right foot, keeping us excited to see what other awesome animated movies might make their way this year. If you haven’t already seen ‘The Nut Job’, it is highly recommended for the whole family! Enjoy watching a mischievous squirrel named Surly and his rat friend named Buddy as they go off on a hilarious adventure in search of nuts.

 2.  The Lego Movie (February 6)

If you have a little boy (or even a girl who loves legos), then you need to see this movie- no questions asked. Besides the fact that putting our favorite kid toy (legos) into animated movies is an obvious win, this adventurous film will keep you on the edge of your seat, taking your mind to new heights you didn’t think was possible from a tiny Lego minifigure.  3.  Mr. Peabody and Sherman (March 7)

Let me tell you something: Mr. Peabody and Sherman is going to be a bit hit with your children, boys or girls. This adventurous story has it all: a funny and mischievous pup, a silly main character, and an exciting excavation filled with time traveling. Will Mr. Peabody be able to save the world from utter destruction in time? Find out March 7th!

 4.  Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (August 8)

Again, this is the perfect movie for the boys. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles return again with a high-impact, action-packed film that will keep your heart racing. It won’t be released until later this year, but it will undoubtedly mark as one of the great animated movies of this year.

 5.  RIO 2 (April 11)

If you were a lover of the original RIO movie, then you’ll be very pleased to hear they are releasing RIO 2 in theaters April 11! This adorable film comes with the same beloved characters (Jewel, Blu), alongside a group of brand new witty characters that are wild and fun! Watch as the Jewel and Blu travel to the Amazon and see what adventures they come across.

 6.  Planes: Fire and Rescue (July 18)

 

Remember that awesome movie Cars? Where here’s a similar movie- only this time involving airplanes! It’s the perfect movie for little boys, following the air racer Dusty as he goes from air racer to aerial firefighting in a matter of moments, which allows him to discover what it means to be a hero. This inspiring, adventurous, and overall incredible movie comes out July 18!

 7.  Me and My Shadow

 

To put it plainly, you’ve probably never seen (or heard) of a movie quite like ‘Me and My Shadow’, and you probably never will again. This funny and quirky movie follows Shadow Stan, a poor shadow who is stuck following the worlds most boring man. But what happens when Shadow Stan disobeys the rules of the shadow world and breaks free from the boring man (Stanley Grubb)?
